And singer and actress Jin Jae-young, who runs aura-j.kr, actress Han Yae-in (shopgirls.co.kr) and model Kim Yong-pyo (lotoco.com) were fined for refusing to refund customers for defective products.
Celebrity shopping sites target consumers in their teens to 30s,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and some 136 were in operation as of the end of March this year. Online shops usually generate around W1 billion in annual sales,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but Jin made W20 billion last year, while Baek and Yu-ri made W9 billion and Hwang W5.8 billion.

I had been on television for more than five years — and radio for several years before that — when I had my first really big experience with speaker’s nerves. I was standing in front of four hundred high school journalism students who’d come to a three-day workshop at the University of Washington when it hit. I had long since overcome my beginner’s jitters in front of a television camera. After all,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the thousands (local) to millions (network) of people who might be watching any given broadcast weren’t physically present. These people were. I could see their faces and sense their reaction. I was no more than twenty words into my planned twenty minute speech when my mouth went bone dry. My wife, who was seated at the head table next to the lectern where I was standing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], sensed my discomfort and pushed a glass of water toward me. Gratefully, I sipped the water and continued.
Step Three: Let It Go
Since we store up most of our tension in the shoulders and in the spinal column, begin by standing up straight with your feet spread comfortably apart. Now, pretend you are holding an imaginary golf club across your shoulders behind your neck. Rotate your shoulders as far as you can one way and then back the other, letting your head follow along. While reading the article, it occurred to me that many of the steps that work so well on the golf course could be equally effective for the person about to be interviewed or make a presentation. In the past twenty years I have taught this Four Step Process to thousands of business and professional people in my Media Awareness and Speaking Freely workshops.
Step Two: Blow It Out
Sit down in a straight-back chair, preferably one with arm rests. Now, relax as completely as possible. Close your eyes and feel the weight of your body pushing down into the chair. Now, feel the weight of your arms against the arm rests and the weight of your legs pushing down toward the floor. Now, monitor your body parts. If you feel tension in your shoulders, shake it out. Do the same for your arms,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], legs and feet.
Now that you are perfectly relaxed,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], breathe deeply and visualize success. Imagine someone who’s opinion you respect coming up to you after your presentation or interview and saying, “You really did a great job.”
One important lesson I learned from my first speech came when I tried to figure out why I felt so much more comfortable during the Q & A. The answer was simple. While the students were asking their question, I took time to breathe. It sounds like a simple thing. Of course, all of us must breathe to stay alive, and yet I’ve found that the single biggest contributor to a loss of control when business and professional people speak or meet the media is shallow breathing. By taking the time to breathe deeply, you not only get rid of excess — adrenaline produced — energy that causes tension, you also gain time to think; a useful practice when answering reporter’s questions. To breathe you must pause,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and pausing gives you a feeling of being in control and power.

A mystery proposal to North Korea the government says will bring substantive progress in resolving the nuclear dispute would guarantee the security of the North Korean regime and calls on the participants in six-party talks to provide large-scale economic aid,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].

What is Firm-Base? It’s when you have someone’s full attention, when they are truly interested in what you’re telling or showing them, not just merely curious – as is the case with the big yellow chicken. Full attention is the key!
WIII-FM is the most listened-to radio station in the world (What Is In It For Me?). You want to get people’s full attention? Tell them right away what is in it for them if they do what you will ask them to do – visit your Web site, subscribe to your ezine, purchase your product, join your business opportunity.
First things first!
The first statement talks to the head – features. The second – benefits – goes straight to the heart. “Ka-ching!” Put another way, “Features tell, benefits sell!”

This is so common sense it’s pathetic. However, as we all know, common sense is not common practice – ESPECIALLY in marketing and advertising.
Now, as was pointed out in one of my recent articles, “interrupting people’s brain pattern” to get – and hold – their full attention long enough for them to do what you want them to do (so you will generate the leads and prospects you want, acquire the customers and clients you want, and make the sales you need so you can make the money required for you and your loved ones to enjoy the good things in life) is not an easy task. So many things are competing for their attention!
Now, if you’ve done a great job with clearly stating the WHY – you are now standing on Firm Base – it will make the interested party ask “How do you do that?” or say “Tell me more!”,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], even if just in their own head. That’s when they “open up a drawer in their mental filing cabinet where you can put all the information they need, or want, to do whatever it is you want them to do (buy, refer, visit, support, order, register, sign up, subscribe, join, donate, etc.). That’s the ONE and ONLY purpose of the WHY – get them to ask HOW?
Here is a (often disputed) fact of (business) life: people buy on emotion and justify with facts. You get to Firm Base by getting people’s full attention. You get that by giving them the right information – the BENEFITS. You get to home plate by giving them an excellent (and justifiable) reason – the features – to take action. People DO buy on emotion, and justify their actions with “facts”. The sooner you’ve accepted this axiom of communication, the sooner you can use it to become more effective and persuasive in ALL your marketing messages.
I wish you ALL the business success you desire and deserve. Remember that the success you desire is function of your ambition, but the success you deserve is function of your ACTION!
My business philosophy is that from first base… well, you might get some reaction, and possibly some action… but from Firm Base, everything is possible.
Until people know WHY, the HOW is totally irrelevant, of no interest to them. You want the chance to tell them HOW smart and qualified you are, HOW good your offer is, HOW helpful your newsletter is, HOW fantastic your product is,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], HOW incredible your MLM or home based business opportunity really is? Then get their attention FIRST with a solid WHY.
This is a serious problem I observe daily in marketing campaigns everywhere: most marketers, it seems, don’t know the difference between the two. Let me shed some light on this. A feature is what something IS or HAS (a 28 inch blade on a lawnmower) while a benefit is what something DOES (saves time mowing the lawn). And even better if you can express the benefit(s) in terms of what that thing does FOR me,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the buyer (What Is In It For ME!!!).
“Good day sir. That baby’s got a 28 inch blade, you know?” (Bob thinking: “Who cares?”)
Look, you’ve done a good job if you’ve made it to first-base through your marketing messages, but in my opinion,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it’s not enough. Not in today’s fast-paced business world. If you want massive success,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you have to get people’s full attention, aka “Firm Base”… from where EVERYTHING is possible. I call that approach “Firm-Base marketing”…
Same thing in business. You gotta get to “first base” if you want to get the lead, the prospect, the customer, the client, the subscription,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the sale. It won’t happen if you’re “sent back to the bench” which, in marketing, happens when someone leaves your ad, email, flyer or Web site to go check out another one. That’s like saying “Yer out!”
One more thing about benefits and features: you need to know the difference.
Now,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], here’s another potent tip: your WHY should be entirely made up of BENEFITS, while you save all the features for the HOW. Continuing with our baseball comparison, you get to Firm Base with a potent WHY, you round the bases on your way to home with an effective HOW.

Step 3- Visualize Yourself Achieving Your Goals:
Before setting off on the path to success you must first be able to see yourself achieving your success. You must believe that you can do it. Your imagination is a powerful creative tool. Once we can vividly imagine something, it often opens the door to manifesting it (Gawain,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 1997).

Step 9- Cultivate Gratitude:
Having gratitude is important once you achieve your visions. Literally "count your blessings", give thanks, allow yourself to enjoy them, and relish the experience of the success you already have. This increases success by attracting more of what you currently possess. One simple way to do this is to write a gratitude list (listing everything that you feel grateful for).
Step 1- Find and Clarify Your Vision of Success:
If you don’t yet know what you want to achieve that’s okay. There are ways to find out. Ask yourself what you are good at, what you enjoy doing, and what you would be doing if money were no object. Write out an ideal scenario of you having and doing what you dream of.
Step 6- Make a Clear Plan With a Timeline:
Consider creating a plan that breaks your goals down into 5-year goals,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 1-year goals,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 6-months, 3-months and 1-month achievements. After completing this plan you can do weekly goals that will put you on schedule for all of the other goal milestones. Be realistic here so you don’t get discouraged.

If you have difficulty with steps one and two you may have internal obstacles preventing you from having or keeping what you want. On some level you may feel undeserving of success and happiness and this may be reflected in a lack of achievement. To uncover these obstacles ask yourself how you truly feel about having what you desire,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Is there any guilt attached to this? One way to uncover any blocks here is to write down why you deserve to be successful. This can reveal any feelings to the contrary. The explosive popularity of rapper Psy's global hit "Gangnam Style" has led to many foreigners inquiring about the meaning of its lyrics. The host of one BBC Radio program read out the English translation,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and a U.S. State Department spokesman e-mailed Korean journalists to ask about them. Just as many Koreans studied the lyrics of western pop songs to learn English,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the words to "Gangnam Style" could be used to teach foreigners Korean.
But I am not too excited about explaining the meaning of the lyrics to "Gangnam Style" because I am not convinced that they are worth it,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
"A girl whose heart gets hotter when night comes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," "A guy who one-shots his coffee before it even cools down,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," "A girl who looks quiet but plays when she plays,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," "“Now let's go until the end." These are some of the lyrics. The U.K.'s Guardian said "Gangnam Style" parodies the gap between the rich and poor in Korean society. What part of the song gave that impression?
Psy's other song "Right Now,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," which was touted as having the potential to become the next "Gangnam Style,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," is much the same. This may not be a problem for those who say Psy's main appeal is his unrefined and straight-talking style. For people who feel that the role of an artist is to serve as a vent for society's desires and discontents,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the lyrics may be just what they need. But it is slightly embarrassing to imagine that many foreigners may be coming to Korean via "Gangnam Style."
The problem is not restricted to Psy. "Gee" by Girls' Generation,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "I Am the Best" by 2NE1 and "Fantastic Baby" by Big Bang rank among the 10 most-viewed Korean songs on YouTube and their lyrics are also excruciatingly banal.
A common factor among timeless pop classics is that their lyrics have a surprisingly high level of emotional sophistication, class and depth. This is true in the words "I will write you a letter in the fall" from the song "Autumn Letter,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," as well as in "Yesterday" by the Beatles and even Katy Perry's latest song "Firework."
The lyrics to a song represent not only the artist singing it but his or her country as well. Singers convey their own emotions and views to their audience through their songs, and fans get a taste of the artist's culture through the songs. Aspiring Korean singers should do some serious thinking about what kind of image of themselves and their country that they want to show the world.
